"Hate" is a strong word!

So, last night Christian would not eat ANY of his dinner. I swear the kid is so picky! He hates potatoes and would not even lick a little off his fork! Well, I am so TIRED of making dinner only for it to be wasted and I am TIRED if him wanting to eat crap later because he's hungry because he didn't eat his dinner. So, after fighting with him on it Dan finally said, "If you dont eat your dinner then you cant have any of the yummy chocolate cake that I brought home." Oh did I mention how supportive my husband is of me trying to lose weight?!? Anyway, CHOCOLATE CAKE is Christian's ALL TIME favorite food (I dont know where he gets it from). He did not believe that Dan got some so we showed him. Well, the kid starts BAWLING his eyes out because he thinks it is gonna be so hard to eat only a few bites of dinner. Long story short he did not eat his food therefore no chocolate cake for him! He was SOOOOOOO MAD! He went in his room still bawling and this is what he did:

Yep, that is a picture of his lovely parents and yep, the message reads, "I Hate You". I found this today (a day later). Dan and I had a nice talk with Christian about anger management and then when he wasn't around, we had a good laugh!

I'll eat your dinner so it doesnt go wasted! I feel the same way, yesterday I put some chicken in the crock pot and was going to make some rice to go with it, but by the time i got home my dad had already taken the boys to mcdonalds..its like why do i even try? I guess that just leaves more for me!

Wow! If only kids knew how strong the word hate is. Although it is sort of funny that what sent him over the edge was chocolate cake :). Apparently you don't mess with the boys chocolate cake

OH MY GOSH, That is hysterical...I mean totally inappropriate. I am so sorry, we have the same problem with Landon and eating, what's with the oldest child? Who knew Christian was into scrapbooking.

Oh my gosh!!! I literally had the same argument with Gracie last night, and I said the same thing about being tired of making dinner that everyone (Colton and Gracie) complains about and won't eat. I told Gracie to eat it or go hungry. There were a lot of tears but she eventually gave in and ate dinner. (I think she even secretly liked it) I totally feel for you, however Gracie and Colton have never left me such a kind letter like that! Wow, I think Dan needs to open up a can of whoop 'BEEP' on Christian. J/K Gotta love our sweet children.

HAHAHAHAHA!! I don't mean to laugh... but it is kinda funny!! I think it's so funny because rather than writing mom and dad he took a picture of the two of you crumpled it up and pasted it to the paper! hahaha!! That boy must have some kind of a sweet tooth... and now I know how to become his FAVORITE person!!

I am still laughing about it! Dan did ask me last night jokingly "are all our firearms and knives locked away"! YES they are!

Okay that is pretty dang funny! Sad that he wrote that about you... but funny because in a kids mind, that was probably the hardest most traumatic thing they could go through as a kid! I'm sure he thought you were so mean and he would never do that to his kids! I use to say that all the time about my mom. I would say she is so mean and I will NEVER do that to my kids! Now as an adult... I totally understand! ha ha

OH YES!!!! I LOVE this post and I am gonna make sure Brent reads it! I think he thinks our kids are the only ones who don't eat their dinner and complain every night that they DON'T like what I have cooked...then want to eat chips 30 minutes later...an then leave notes around the house that say.."My mom annoys me"! I am so glad that someone like you...someone he loves and respects...has these same kid issues! Pheeeeew...my life just got easier...THANK YOU!!
Hope all is well. We are gonna try to come see you over Thanksgiving...I am sure Brent will call and give you a heads up!

OH MY GOSH! That is sooooo hilarious. It reminds me of something Eric would do (a few years ago, of course). Now I know how to become his favorite aunt though. Haha, Holly!

Oh my goodness, man if you are a parent you can totally sympathize here with this story! However, if you are also a parent or not a parent you probably are getting a little chuckle out of this story because goodness every kid at some time or another hates his dinner and his parents. Goodness knows we have had our share of battles over dinner before. And after all who could blame a kid for being fired up over not getting chocolate cake, I mean for me the words, "No Chocolate Cake"! those are serious fighting words:)

I laugh at this only because I am pretty sure I wrote my parents lovely notes like this on numerous occasions when I was a kid. So don't worry, he'll turn out alright. haha

My 8 year old is testing me with the "I Hate You's" again, recently. I've been getting the "You're the worst mom in the world" just as frequently. Sometimes I think they just don't realize how GOOD their lives really are!
