Carter did very well on Monday with his testing. Thank you Cindy for sitting at the hospital with me for 6 hours and thank you to all of you who kept Carter in your thoughts and prayers! On Thursday we saw the Neurologist for the results and she said that the EEG showed no more signs of him having seizures! That is great! We get to wean him off of his medicine and see if the seizures return. The Dr. thinks that it is unlikely- I am praying she is right. I feel pretty good about it but I am still nervous. I didn't even know those were seizures he was having to begin with so I am worried that I wont recognize when he is having one, if he does have one that is. Anyway... the MRI showed where the stroke happened and how large it was (it was a moderate sized stroke). The Dr. said that there is definite damage done to that side of the brain (left cerebral) but the brain can make new pathways and make up for the damaged part. The things that he could struggle with are mainly motor skills and speech. He is having some issues with his right side (muscle wise) so he will start physical therapy once a week. The Doctor said we got very lucky with Carter and basically that she felt we should not have any more children. She doesn't have to worry about that! We feel very blessed to have 5 beautiful and healthy boys. It is pretty overwhelming to go to the hospital and see so many kids in wheel chairs and having other major medical issues. When Dan and I went to the hospital on Thursday we saw a kid that looked maybe 8 years old and she was bald and obviously battling Cancer. We count our many many blessings and pray for those struggling with much bigger issues. We cant thank you, our family and friends enough, who have been there for us and have and I'm sure will continue to pray for Carter.
Anyway, here are some pictures I took of Carter today. I know it looks like Julia took these, but it was really me. I know I am his Mom but this kid is so stinkin cute!
< Getting a little tired of all the picture taking!
Being his Godmother, of course i think he is adorable! and your pic taking skills are improving but maybe we can schedule a time to really take his pics.
